Silhouette rimless glasses, fitted around your prescription

Silhouette is the exception to Classic Vision's usual frame-ordering approach: we carry the brand in the shop. If you are considering rimless glasses, that makes it possible to begin with the feel and fit rather than only a photograph. At our Borough Park practice, the lens shape and prescription plan remain central to the conversation.

Carrying Silhouette does not mean we have every model, color, or size on the wall. Tell us the version you want and we order it when needed; availability of a specific model, color, and size is confirmed when we order. We help you distinguish a preferred appearance from the measurements and construction requirements of your finished glasses.

Austrian origins and a focus on lightweight design

Anneliese and Arnold Schmied established Silhouette in 1964. The Silhouette Group describes itself as a family-owned company now in its third generation. Its history includes the development of SPX, its proprietary synthetic material, and the introduction of Titan Minimal Art in 1999.

Titan Minimal Art, often shortened to TMA, is an important reference in the brand's rimless design story. Momentum is another rimless collection, with a different approach to temple detailing. Silhouette's Momentum description identifies fine-grade titanium, refined temple surfaces, and hinges influenced by watchmaking.

These collections are useful starting points, not a reason to treat every Silhouette as the same frame. We check the exact model's material, bridge, temples, lens shape, and mounting construction. The right choice depends on how that particular combination sits on your face and accommodates the proposed lenses.

Rimless lenses are part of the structure

In a rimless pair, evaluating the lenses involves more than selecting a prescription and an attractive outline. We check the mounting requirements, material options, lens dimensions, and the condition of any frame being reused. A drilled mounting needs a lens plan that the laboratory accepts for that construction.

For a strong prescription, we review the proposed lens size, thickness requirements, and material before recommending a shape. We do not assume that a higher-index material is automatically the correct answer for every rimless job. The mounting requirements and complete specification need to be assessed together.

Progressives also require sufficient usable depth and accurate fitting measurements. A very small or shallow shape calls for a specific check against the chosen design. We discuss the shape you prefer, then confirm what can be made rather than promise that every outline is suitable for every prescription.

Why the lens matters more than the logo

Rimless styling makes a lens-first approach especially appropriate: the lens outline is a visible part of the design, while the prescription must serve your daily tasks. We ask about reading, screens, distance vision, and your current glasses before recommending a lens design or approving a shape.

Classic Vision can make lenses from every major maker, including the full Varilux/Essilor, ZEISS, and Hoya ranges, plus Shamir and Horizons Mimesys. We compare suitable single-vision or progressive options, then confirm which combinations of design, material, and mounting are available for the exact frame.

Shaul Einhorn, our licensed optician, offers warm, patient fitting guidance. His son Yossi uses his engineering background to explain lens choices without relying on marketing labels. The aim is not to attach the longest specification to a light frame; it is to choose a coherent frame-and-lens combination for your prescription.

How ordering works at Classic Vision

Start by trying the Silhouette frames we carry, or send the model number, color, size, or a clear photograph of the version you want. Bring your prescription and current glasses. We check the size against your face and prescription and review the lens shape and mounting requirements before finalizing the plan.

If the specific frame needs ordering, we confirm its availability when placing the order. We then complete the fitting measurements and arrange the lenses with the appropriate mounting specification. At collection, we check the finished pair and hand-adjust the bridge and temples as the model permits.

Classic Vision has served Brooklyn since 1996 at 5314 18th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11204. Call, text, or WhatsApp (718) 621-5717 if you want us to check a specific Silhouette model before your visit.

Replacing lenses without automatically replacing the frame

If you already own Silhouette glasses, bring the complete pair for an assessment. We examine the frame and mounting components before confirming whether new lenses are appropriate. A prescription update is also a useful time to review whether the current shape and fit still serve you.

Where the frame and mounting system allow, we can discuss suitable replacement lenses and any feasible shape changes. We do not promise that every existing component can be reused or that any new outline will work. The recommendation follows inspection and confirmation of the laboratory requirements.

Questions we hear

Frequently asked

Where can I try Silhouette glasses in Brooklyn?
Classic Vision carries Silhouette at 5314 18th Ave. Contact us if you want a particular model, color, or size; carrying the collection does not mean every version is available to try.
Can Silhouette rimless glasses have progressive lenses?
They can be considered for progressives, subject to the exact frame, shape, prescription, fitting height, and lens design. We check those details before confirming a particular combination.
What is the difference between Momentum and Titan Minimal Art?
They are distinct Silhouette collections. Titan Minimal Art is a landmark in the brand's rimless history, introduced in 1999. Momentum features its own titanium temple detailing and watchmaking-influenced hinge design.
Can you replace lenses in my Silhouette frame?
Yes, where its condition and mounting system allow. Bring the glasses for inspection. We confirm compatible materials, lens designs, and mounting requirements before proceeding.
Are rimless glasses suitable for a strong prescription?
Possibly, but the complete specification needs assessment. We review the prescription, lens dimensions, material, required thickness, and mounting construction rather than approve a rimless frame on appearance alone.
