Moscot · Ordered for you

Moscot glasses, thoughtfully fitted with your lenses

Moscot has a genuine New York story, but choosing a pair should be about more than recognizing the name on the temple. The right frame needs to suit your bridge, sit comfortably, and work with the prescription you actually wear. At Classic Vision Optical & Optician in Borough Park, we begin with those practical questions, then help you plan the finished glasses.

We may not have Moscot on the wall. Tell us the model and we order it in when sourcing is possible; availability of a specific model, color, and size is confirmed when we order. Moscot operates its own shops and prescription service, so sourcing and lensing options must be confirmed individually. We can also assess a Moscot frame you already own for new lenses.

A Lower East Side story, with recognizable frame details

Moscot traces its optical roots to Hyman Moscot selling ready-made glasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street. Its first family shop opened in 1915 on Rivington Street. That makes Moscot a Lower East Side brand by history, not simply a collection borrowing a New York aesthetic. The company describes itself as a five-generation family-owned eyewear business.

The Lemtosh and Miltzen offer two useful starting points. Moscot describes the Lemtosh as handcrafted Italian acetate with diamond rivets, a keyhole bridge, and seven-barrel hinges. The round Miltzen, introduced in the 1930s, uses Italian acetate, paired dot rivets, and three-barrel hinges. These are model-specific details, not promises about every frame in the collection. Moscot identifies its frames as designed and prototyped in New York with imported parts and materials.

Lemtosh or Miltzen: choose the fit before the photograph

A familiar silhouette can look quite different in another size. We review the exact eye size, bridge, and temple length rather than treating a model name as a complete fitting recommendation. Bring your current glasses, particularly if they fit comfortably. They give us a useful reference for discussing what should stay the same and what you want to change.

For a strong prescription, we evaluate the proposed frame dimensions and where your eyes will sit within the lenses before recommending a size. For progressives, we check the usable depth and the fitting requirements of the chosen design. Moscot identifies Lemtosh configurations as suitable for single-vision and progressive prescriptions, but that does not establish suitability for every wearer. A very small version still needs an individual assessment.

Why the lens matters more than the logo

The frame establishes the look; the lenses determine how the finished pair serves your day. Tell us whether your priorities are reading, a desktop monitor, walking outdoors, or moving repeatedly between distances. We then compare appropriate lens designs rather than assuming that the most elaborate product name is automatically the right answer.

Classic Vision can make lenses from every major maker, including the full Varilux/Essilor, ZEISS, and Hoya ranges, plus Shamir and Horizons Mimesys. We pair an eligible Moscot frame with the right design after checking prescription, fit, measurements, and laboratory compatibility. Licensed optician Shaul Einhorn brings a warm, patient approach; his son Yossi uses his engineering background to explain the meaningful differences without lens-marketing clutter.

How ordering works at Classic Vision

Send the model name or number, color, and size, or bring a clear photograph. Include your prescription if you have it. We check the proposed size against your face and prescription, investigate sourcing, and explain the feasible lens choices before proceeding. A photograph starts the conversation, but identifying the exact version matters before an order is placed.

Once the details and availability are confirmed, we order the frame, take the required fitting measurements, and arrange the lenses. At collection, we check the finished glasses and hand-adjust them for your face. Classic Vision has served Brooklyn since 1996 at 5314 18th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11204. Call, text, or WhatsApp (718) 621-5717 to discuss a model before visiting.

Already own a Moscot frame?

You do not necessarily need a replacement frame when your prescription changes. Bring your existing pair so we can examine its condition and determine whether it allows new lenses. We assess the frame before accepting the job rather than promising a lens change from a photograph alone.

If the frame is suitable, we can discuss single-vision lenses, progressives, or prescription sun lenses as appropriate. Reusing a frame is still a new fitting decision: your prescription, daily tasks, and the way the glasses sit may have changed since the original lenses were made.

Questions we hear

Frequently asked

Where can I get Moscot glasses in Brooklyn?
Contact Classic Vision to discuss the exact model you want. We may not have Moscot on the wall, and sourcing must be confirmed. We can also evaluate a Moscot frame you already own for prescription lenses.
Can I put progressive lenses in Moscot Lemtosh frames?
Potentially. Moscot lists progressive suitability for Lemtosh configurations, but we must check your exact size, prescription, fitting height, and selected progressive design before confirming the combination.
What is the difference between Lemtosh and Miltzen?
Miltzen is a round design with paired dot rivets and three-barrel hinges. Lemtosh has a different, more squared outline, diamond rivets, and seven-barrel hinges. Both cited models use Italian acetate and keyhole bridges.
Can Classic Vision replace lenses in my Moscot glasses?
Yes, where the frame condition and construction allow. Bring the glasses and your prescription for an assessment. We confirm the suitable lens options before accepting the frame for new lenses.
