Ray-Ban Prescription Glasses in Brooklyn

Ray-Ban is familiar enough that many people arrive knowing the shape they want: a Wayfarer, a Clubmaster, or a slim round frame. Making that shape into comfortable prescription glasses takes another conversation—about your prescription, how the bridge fits, and what you need to see throughout the day.

At Classic Vision Optical & Optician in Borough Park, we start with that conversation rather than a large display wall. We may not have Ray-Ban on the wall; tell us the model and we order it in. Availability of a specific model, color, and size is confirmed when we order. Our independent shop has been lens-focused since 1996.

A recognizable history, with distinct optical designs

Ray-Ban traces its identity to eyewear developed for American pilots in the 1930s. Its official history dates the Aviator Classic to 1937 and the Original Wayfarer to 1952. The brand is part of EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear and lens group behind its frame production.

The familiar names describe families, not interchangeable products. Ray-Ban distinguishes the Original Wayfarer sunglasses from Wayfarer optical designs, and dates Clubmaster Optics to 2009. Clubmaster RX5154 is a verified optical model; a photograph of a sunglass version alone does not identify the correct prescription frame.

Materials and bridge construction also vary. Ray-Ban lists acetate for the RX5154 example in its catalog, while its broader collection includes metal styles. Send the complete temple markings if you already own a pair. A model number, color code, and size are more useful than asking for a black Ray-Ban.

Choose the size for your prescription, not just your reflection

A frame can look right in a photograph yet sit too low, squeeze at the temples, or position your eyes poorly within the lenses. We assess bridge contact, width, stability, and usable lens depth before recommending a size. Matching an old lens-width number is only a starting point because different shapes fit differently.

For a stronger prescription, we investigate a reasonably compact shape with your eyes well positioned rather than automatically choosing the largest version. We also review the likely finished thickness before selecting a lens material. High-index lenses are an option to evaluate, not a substitute for sensible frame selection.

For progressives, the question is whether the fitted frame leaves enough usable height for the selected design. A shallow rectangle may require a different approach from a deeper Clubmaster or round shape. We make that judgment from the actual fit and measurements, not the collection name.

Why the lens matters more than the logo

The frame establishes the appearance; the prescription lenses determine how that appearance works for reading, driving, screens, and everyday distance vision. A recognizable logo cannot choose a progressive design, locate its reading area, or compensate for inaccurate measurements.

Classic Vision can make lenses from every major maker, including the full Varilux/Essilor, ZEISS, and Hoya ranges, plus Shamir and Horizons Mimesys. We pair the frame with an appropriate design after discussing your working distances, prescription, and previous glasses. No single lens brand is automatically the answer for every Ray-Ban wearer.

Licensed optician Shaul Einhorn brings a warm, patient approach to fitting. His son Yossi Einhorn, who has an engineering background, helps separate useful lens differences from marketing language. We also explain the difference between a branded lens package and independently selected prescription lenses; those are not necessarily the same product.

Clear glasses and prescription sunglasses are separate decisions

If you want Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses, bring the exact sunglass model as well as your prescription. We check whether that particular frame can accept the intended lenses before discussing tint, polarization, or progressive options. A famous sunglass shape is not a promise that every prescription will work in it.

It is equally important to distinguish a display lens from a finished prescription lens. Ray-Ban's RX5154 product information identifies demo lenses. When ordering optical frames, we establish the actual prescription lens specification rather than assuming the lenses pictured online are what you will wear.

How ordering works at Classic Vision

Bring a model number, color, size, or clear photo. We check the proposed size against your face and prescription, explain any lens restrictions, and confirm the specific configuration when ordering. We then fit the chosen premium lenses and hand-adjust the completed glasses.

Visit Classic Vision Optical & Optician at 5314 18th Ave, Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY 11204. Call, text, or WhatsApp (718) 621-5717 with the frame details before visiting. We will explain what needs checking without suggesting that a particular model is already here.

Questions we hear

Frequently asked

Can I get Ray-Ban prescription glasses in Brooklyn?
Yes. Tell Classic Vision which model, color, and size you want, or send a photo. We assess suitability, confirm availability when ordering, and fit the frame with the prescription lenses you choose.
Can Ray-Ban frames take progressive lenses?
Many optical styles can be considered. We must check the actual fitted height, frame stability, prescription, and requirements of the selected progressive design before confirming a particular combination.
Are Ray-Ban lenses good, or should I upgrade?
First identify the lenses being offered. Demo lenses, branded prescription lenses, and independently selected premium lenses are different things. We compare the relevant designs and treatments against your needs rather than recommending an upgrade simply because it sounds premium.
Can you order the same Ray-Ban frame I already wear?
Send photographs of the frame and its temple markings. We can investigate the exact model, color, and size, but current availability is confirmed when we order; an older reference is not a guarantee of a replacement.
